Project 5 for 2025 is starting in February! In the paid community, we will be working through creative briefs together. Each brief will run for 2 months. There are 5 briefs in total. At the end of November 2025, we will have worked through these projects together, all in slightly different ways, but all in community and with support. If you’re interested in joining but are not sure if its for you, read or listen on!
If you fit the description of one of the Creative Types below, then sign up!
Creative 1 - The committed Sketchbooker
You’re passionate about sketchbooking and fill your pages easily. However, you’re stuck at single images, and not progressing into producing a series, or a small body of work that holds together
You’re ready to take your sketchbook work up to the next level, but want to have some support with it
You enjoy an art challenge, but find that you lose motivation easily due to lack of accountability
You enjoy an art challenge, but feel frustrated when you go to ‘post’ and there is crickets! Very little feedback and response on SM because the algorithm is king, and who knows how it will be that day
You’re fed up of making art for an algorithm but you miss the sense of community that can come from social media challenges, so you keep doing it hoping each time will be better
If this is you , you can join in at the ‘sketchbook series’ level of each brief. This will allow you to:
Respond to the brief in an open way, interpreting it to suit your needs
You will have the accountability of the group to share your progress
You will focus on producing a series of images that work as a set, can be as little as 3, or as many as you feel like producing.
You’ll have a chance to share the work in a live zoom, where we can celebrate the work you have created
You’re still exploring your style, but you’re keen to see what happens when you pick one and run with it for a project.
If want to explore different styles and ways of working in each project - that’s ok!
You’re excited by the idea of having 5 mini-collections that reflect your exploration by the end of November 2025
You just want to take a gentle step up from your current sketchbook practice, and be in the company of other inspiring creatives while you do
You’re attracted to the idea of getting access to regular feedback and support
Creative 2 - Wearing your commercial hat
If you’ve been making work for a while, and you want to put your commercial hat on, you can respond to the briefs at the ‘pro’ level. All of the above that I have mentioned for the sketchbook level still applies, however, you will be thinking more specifically about the target audience that you are trying to reach, and the end result being applied to a specific application.
You’re keen to get to the end of November 25 with 5 projects that demonstrate how your visual style can be adapted across different types of projects, with different target audiences and categories.
You may feel really clear about your visual language and want to flesh it out across these projects
You may still be working out your favourite way of working, but have a sense of confidence in your approach, and want to investigate it within the confines of a brief
You want to put these projects on your website and have them as showcase examples for potential paid work. Create the work you want to be hired for!
Each brief will have the option to ‘dial up’ up ‘dial down’ the level of response. So if you want to work things up to mock up level, and visualise it to ‘finish’ you will be able to.
Creative 3 – Bring your own project
You want to make 2025 a year of working on projects, but you have already got a good idea of what you want to work on. You have your own briefs.
Join us, and work through your chosen briefs with us!
You don’t HAVE to work on the same project, but if you want to access the same support group, and join in sharing on our live calls to give you accountability and to get inspired - you are most welcome!
There is so much to gain from sharing in the experience of working on projects with other creative people, so use this space to access feedback and share your work in progress and ideas.
You can adapt each brief to work to suit you, depending on where you are in your practice.
Project 5 for 2025 is something I am experimenting with for one year. It’s almost a pilot / test space for a potential future course, if there is a desire for it. So now is a great time to get involved, at the low annual fee, and let’s create together!
Project Themes
The briefs will each have a Project theme, and within each theme you will be able to adapt how you bring the theme to life. More details on the approach for each theme will come in a separate post. However for now, here are the top level themes for 2025:
Theme 1: Animals
Theme 2: Portraits / People
Theme 3: Food
Theme 4: Seasonal / Festive
Theme 5: Maps / Sense of Place
This looks really amazing Raj! I'm really tempted to join but not sure I'll find the time. Or maybe this is the sign I need to make time to finally work towards my portfolio.
Hi Raj! Project 5 sounds really interesting, and I’m excited to get started! ✨ I’m a beginner looking to build a more consistent sketchbook habit, but I’m also curious to learn more about the commercial possibilities. Do you think this project is beginner-friendly as well? Thanks! 🥰
