LIVE: Loose lines & Warm ups - Darjeeling Limited

Sketchbooks scribbles and Pentel Sign Pen love
3

Thanks for joining me on my warm up this morning!

Mad scribbles and hot pink - not my finest work but that’s not the point. This was a fun warm up!

Objectives:

  • To enjoy the feeling of simply moving materials around the page, in a loose relaxed way

  • Using movie stills as a reference is a good way to practice character, and translating recognisable faces into your own drawn style.

  • Let go of any preciousness - it’s fine if its bad! But it was a bit scary drawing this live on stage - so thank you for the encouragement and for joining me!

  • At least this time I managed to film with the camera in the correct orientation!

Materials I felt inspired to use today: (no affiliate)

My tools from this morning

I also mentioned that I recently visited the Lenbachhaus Museum in Munich, where the exhibition ‘Aber hier leben? Nein danke.’ (But live here? No thank you’) an exhibition about Anti-fascism and Surrealism was showing. There, I came across the photographic reproductions of the work of Lee Miller and Roland Penrose - I was mesmerised by these incredible images. I wanted to mark the impact of these images on me, so I sketched her with the same 2 sign pens, which I also share in this live.

A simple 2 colour, limited palette, Pentel only sketch of Lee Miller. She’s my new obsession.

As usual, all sketches are in various Pith Supply sketchbooks. My obsession for these is as strong as ever. No affiliate links to Pith, but a girl can dream.
