Thanks for joining me on my warm up this morning!
Objectives:
To enjoy the feeling of simply moving materials around the page, in a loose relaxed way
Using movie stills as a reference is a good way to practice character, and translating recognisable faces into your own drawn style.
Let go of any preciousness - it’s fine if its bad! But it was a bit scary drawing this live on stage - so thank you for the encouragement and for joining me!
At least this time I managed to film with the camera in the correct orientation!
Materials I felt inspired to use today: (no affiliate)
I also mentioned that I recently visited the Lenbachhaus Museum in Munich, where the exhibition ‘Aber hier leben? Nein danke.’ (But live here? No thank you’) an exhibition about Anti-fascism and Surrealism was showing. There, I came across the photographic reproductions of the work of Lee Miller and Roland Penrose - I was mesmerised by these incredible images. I wanted to mark the impact of these images on me, so I sketched her with the same 2 sign pens, which I also share in this live.
As usual, all sketches are in various Pith Supply sketchbooks. My obsession for these is as strong as ever. No affiliate links to Pith, but a girl can dream.
