Thank you
for inviting me on to your Live!I have been so inspired by Helen’s recent work on Still Lifes, and her personal approach to colour in her work. A love for colour is something that we both share, but Still Life is not something I have given much time for. So this was the perfect opportunity to have some fun with paint, talk Summer, Still Lifes and meaningful objects.
What a perfect way to start the weekend, and celebrate Summer.
I used the Japanese Gansai Tambi Spring palette for this painting in my Pith Lumia Sketchbook. Do I love the result? Well, it’s a bit messy, but it makes me smile and was so fun to paint. I managed to squeeze in that Dinosaur! I’m excited to play with a few more pages of the same idea, to celebrate Summer in my sketchbook.
Here’s Helen’s gorgeous work:

Which objects would you include in a Still Life to celebrate Midsummer / Solstice? Let me know in the comments. :-)
Wishing you all a wonderful Summer!
