Such a great reminder that to simply DO is really the ONLY thing to focus on. Not to over think it, not to over plan it, not to try and brand everything to keep it all cohesive, but to simply enjoy the doing part. The magic is in there already, you just have to let it out. An inspiration always Raj!
Hi Rashmi! WOW THANK YOU so much! I really appreciate you taking the time to listen and to give me feedback. Hearing from you all inspires ME so much - win win! xx
Thanks for stepping out with bravery, you've inspired me to maybe, maybe, do some spoken word stuff with my substance and maybe, maybe make it a routine part of my business ☺️
This was great to listen to, Raj. Congratulations on making your Substack work so well for you. I particularly loved the quote about the more you make, the more of yourself emerges - so true, yet not an obvious outcome during the process, so thank you for sharing that wisdom! I also love the Yoda quote - I use it with my kids all the time, but maybe need to tell it to myself occasionally too!
Lovely to hear your voice and your thoughts on having a substack! I can relate to this completely, having a newsletter felt like a safe space to explore art and my ways of doing art. I am looking forward to see where your path takes you 🌸
So brilliant and inspiring Raj ✨️ we can feel that you are speaking from your heart as an artist, love that ❤️ p.s.- your voice is very relaxing to hear (need to say this bc I normally can't hear podcasts)
Oh wow, thank you for the voice comment: I am very self conscious about it! I guess no-one likes the sound of their own voice! Thanks for taking the time to listen.☺️
For sure! I think the hardest thing (for me personally) is finding something to draw that I warm/gravitate to in a specific moment, and then I end up not drawing because I've allowed myself to think too much. However I've recently bought some oracle cards with lovely illustrations that I'm spending time just copying for now, so that's kind of working, as well as book inspiration :) But love how you've showed up consistently and haven't made excuses!
Oh i SO relate to the overthinking of what to draw! I’m sure we all grapple with that one. It’s something i think about a lot, in fact i might write a post about it - so thanks for that. The oracle cards are a brilliant idea - in fact the simplicity of working from set reference like that is so great for taking away overwhelm. I did a similar thing using animal picture cards from my sons toy box. Thanks for your comments, it’s really given me food for thought!
Wow, this wonderful Raj, thank you for sharing your insights! So much of what you said resonates with me.
Apart from some of the tech side of things (which I’m still getting my head around!😆) I’m also feeling ‘ease’ in sharing on this platform.
I was also worried about making the commitment to share so much of me and my work and if I could even do it, but I’ve also found it surprisingly easy to show up and share here and I can see how this habit is going to be of huge benefit to developing the creative work of me and my subscribers.
I love your comments about making work that isn’t perfect and that ‘the more you make, the more of yourself emerges’. So true! That’s EXACTLY how you find your style.
And if all else fails, eat chocolate. Amen to that 🍫😁
YES Emma!! I am SO excited that you are here and starting your journey of showing up and creating. Its proved to be SO kind and nourishing. You've already started off with a bang, your publication looks gorgeous and feels very distinctly YOU. I love it! I'm really excited to be a part of it.
The tech side of things takes some time, and can be a bit overwhelming - I am learning new things all the time! And its growing and changing too, so in a way we will never really grasp it all, but that's ok.
What I didn't expect was that I would enjoy myself so much! I hope you do too!
That makes me so happy to hear Raj! It's hard to know when we set off on these solo ventures, if any of it will work or resonate in the way we want, but reading your comments bouys me up, thank you! I may not need the chocolate today :)
thank you for sharing! I love your podcast episodes.
thank you for taking the time to listen!

Thank you Steve - yup sometimes it’s that simple. But also feels hard! But mostly it’s simple 🤣
Hey Raj 💛 I just listened to this and I'm so so inspired! I have loved everything you have put out so far. Can't wait for more 😍

Thank you most kindly Beth! Your kind collaboration and constant support has meant the world. You're so generous and kind. x
That’s my fave quote too!
