Yes there will be a replay - will probably be available through Beth's Substack but I will see the best way to host it on mine too. x Have a great weekend away!
Funnily enough I’m just starting to try and wrap my head around what I’m bringing for our trip to italy next month. Wonderful to see what you brought, what you used, and peek in your sketchbook.
I made my wife look at the brush pens last night! (She’s a book artist/drawer/painter/printmaker and also my go-to materials and tools resource). I’m totally intrigued with them. I’ve only just started drawing with ink so these seem perfect.
OOOH how wonderful that your wife is the 'oracle' for all things materials! I was looking for the Sennelier brand of pre-filled ink brushes, but they were not stocked at the store, so I went for an own-brand option. However, I might try filling my own empty brush pens with some coloured ink - but that will open another whole range of options, and I am trying NOT to buy anything till the end of the year!😬
Loved the brush pen sketches but I think I loved the ones of your cows and your son most! The negative space, the pencil colours you chose! Just wonderful!
This is such an inspirational and informational video! I love hearing you talk us through all your sketches. Your ability to simplify what you're seeing and still keep the important parts that you want to convey is so great. The watercolor of the pool, Marco and dumpling, and the view from the kitchen really grabbed me. Those three brush pens are so nice. I really like that neutral brown. So lovely! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you SO much Jason! I really wasn't keen on the pool watercolour sketch but I'm glad I made it - was a 'learning' sketch! But the brush pen sketches really were the most fun, and they really felt like the winning material of the trip. The neutral brown was surprising! I liked it more than I thought I would!
This is so lovely Raj, thanks for sharing it again today!
Thanks Pauline!
Gutted I can’t make your live session, I’m away that weekend! Will there be a replay? x

I hope it was helpful! For me, the brush pens were the winner! Let me know what you end up taking!

I love seeing your interplay of inspiration of materials to subjects and vice versa!
