Lovely location drawings! I had sworn off markers forever but now I find taking at least a beige is super helpful. Or if I’m sketching at the dog park, a cool grey and a beige with a couple of Inktense pencils are delightful!

Yes I was SO tempted to pack a light marker of some sort, they are so helpful for laying down a base area to work on top of, or to map out the sketch on the page. I should probably keep one in the pencil case! I LOVE inktense - but I am on a buying ban (sort of) - the indigo is gorgeous!

I’m the absolute worst when it comes to packing limited palettes but I have tried to take only a Payne’s Grey and the three French Greys before and that worked quite well, alongside a warm grey Tombow. Next time I’ll need to try to also take a pop of colour because some images definitely need that.

A range of greys is a great approach - it helps to simplify right down so you don't have decision overwhelm! And its nice to just work tonally too. I have to get better at that.

Love your drawings, I’m a big fan of limited pallettes! I’ve just packed a limited selection for a short trip! I did think a bit about city colors, and I’m not a green person at all (colourwise). So I’m bringing my ArtGraf, 3 Ecolines (light grey, beige and pastel red), 4 coloured pencils (derwent Coloursoft pimento, derwent lightfast mars black, Caran D’Ache Museum Aquarel in gold cadmium yellow, derwent Inktense pencil in Paynes Grey, 2 neocolors (silver grey and the sky blue. And a Pilot parallel pen to try out, and a uni ball eye for the same reasons you have it;). I’m still on the fence about 2 Tombows, but they are so annoyingly long that they don’t really fit in my pencil case, so they will probably stay at home. I love my Holbein Luminous Red, but decided to try leaving the house without it for once.... probably will regret that instantly😅

That sounds like a REALLY well thought through set of materials! I would love to see a swatch of how they look on a page. I think I might start a thread in notes - I am SO nosey to see what people would select! I love and also hate Tombows - WHY are they so long and WHY do the numbers rub off so easily?!?! But the colour range is so great... I almost wish they would manufacture a proper pen roll to go with their pens!

I feel the same way about Tombows! And what’s the deal with that small end? Can that just be another brush pen end? 😜

And 6 hours later, I’ve completely changed the kit😂. Still no more than 10 materials though and no luminous red... and I’m leaving now, so this is it
