Warm and Cool Limited palettes

Thank you for your patience with getting this out to you this month. It is a little later than I had hoped - I’m warming up to the year!

I’ve been thinking about this one for a couple of months. I’ve been obsessing over ‘warm’ colours vs ‘cool’ colours, and I am really keen on getting better at:

1. Working with warm & cool colours overall, and working with an awareness of warm vs cool at the start of a drawing

2. Identifying which colours are warm vs cool! Sometimes it is not easy to tell!

3. How to use warm vs cool to build more depth into an image

4. Using this awareness to help me connect with what I like when I create colour palettes - and get me closer to finding ‘my colours’.

   

In this video I will:

• Start by showing you sketchbook pieces that inspired this video

• Explain how I selected my palettes

• Demonstrate using these palettes in building a sketch from a black and white image. (Timelapse of drawing) I demonstrate:
  1x Warm palette: Portrait
  Ix Cool palette: Landscape
  A bit of both: Person in a scene

• Finally, the video ends with some observations and thoughts on the results.
