My 2024 Substack ‘Strategy’

The inspiration for my strategy came into sharp focus at 3am last night. (I’d already been up for 2 hours with my son, what else was my brain to do?!)
My strategy is as follows:

FREE:
Tone of Voice: "Look what I made! Isn’t it pretty?”
Vibes: Excited
Content: Sketchbook Tours and finished stuff, Inspiration and Monthly overviews. Podcast episodes when I can.

‘DRAW FOR LIFE’ CLUB MEMBERS, PAID:
Tone of Voice: “Oh shit this is scary and hard but I’m gonna do it anyway. Let’s figure this out together".”
Vibes: Vulnerable, a bit nervous but learning and sharing and learning some more.
Content: Anything that takes ages to put together. Workshops and tips. Personal audio content that is more private. Members only chats and sometimes an invitation to meet on Zoom. Process. Insiders advice and knowledge sharing. Design stuff that helps the illustration and sketchbook stuff. Let’s build our portfolio together. Let’s continue to get better at colour with a regular monthly practice.

My over-arching ‘Why’ is to build that body of work that I can really put out there, and that I feel reflects ‘me’. It’s a big ask, and maybe it will take a few years, but this is the first year where I am moving out of pure play, into portfolio building. Focus and Intention!
